Community Spotlight: Charlotte Dickson

For Charlotte Dickson, music is about making people feel heard.

The Ukiah-based musician, singer-songwriter, and recording artist shares her emotions through song, creating music in hopes of connecting with people who recognize something of themselves in what she has to say.

“I share my emotions with the world through song in hopes to find like minded individuals who want to feel heard and seen.”

It’s that desire for connection that sits at the center of Charlotte’s work.

Inspired by the Unknown

Charlotte’s inspiration comes directly from her own experiences and the unpredictability of what comes next.

“My life has been a wild ride. I’m inspired by the unknown in life.”

Musically, she names Ethel Cain and Brakence as her two biggest creative influences.

But as Charlotte continues developing her own career, she’s also learning how important it is for an artist to communicate not only what they create, but why they create it.

“The hardest part has been figuring out the right way to express why I do what I do. If people don’t know your why, it’s harder to connect.”

For an artist whose work is centered around emotion and helping listeners feel seen, figuring out how to communicate that “why” has become part of the journey.

A Debut Album Is Coming

Charlotte is currently preparing for a major moment in her career: her debut album.

“I’m working on promoting my upcoming debut album which releases in October.”        (Pre save HERE)

The project marks a new chapter for Charlotte as she continues putting her music and emotions out into the world.

And when asked what she’s most proud of  something people might not necessarily know about her Charlotte’s answer was simple:

“I’m proud of my perseverance in this art.”

That perseverance has kept her creating, and now it’s carrying her toward the release of her first album.

Charlotte also gives a shoutout to Blue Élan Records as part of her creative community.

Charlotte + Milk Room

Charlotte’s relationship with Milk Room existed long before this Community Spotlight.

“I’ve been shopping there for years so I have an extra place in my heart for it.”

That makes featuring her especially meaningful for us. Milk Room has always been about more than clothes  it’s about the creative people who make up the community around it.

Now, Charlotte is preparing to share her biggest musical project yet.

Her debut album arrives this October.
