Community Spotlight: ANGL Is Creating Without Boundaries

For Murrieta-based musician ANGL, creativity has never belonged to just one genre.

Known as a multi-genre artist, ANGL moves between Hyperpop, Pop Punk, Emo Rap, Electronic, Industrial, and Hardcore allowing the music to shift alongside what he wants to express.

“I have been known to be a multi-genre artist, typically leaning towards Hyperpop/Pop Punk, Emo rap, Electronic, and Industrial/hardcore.”

That freedom to move between sounds connects directly to what attracted ANGL to art in the first place.

Art as a Form of Freedom

ANGL’s relationship with creativity started long before making music.

“Since I was a kid I always loved art and reading. Whether it was poetry or books, it pushed me to create, eventually writing poetry at 12, and I used to draw when I was even younger because something with art always spoke to me.”

For ANGL, creating became a way to communicate something that couldn't always be expressed another way.

“It shows freedom and how you can express yourself and put a message into anything that you create.”

That openness can also be heard in the artists ANGL identifies as influences. The list stretches across genres and scenes, including Lynn Gunn of PVRIS, Halsey, Maria Brink of In This Moment, VNV Nation, KMFDM, Lil Peep, and drag queens.

Instead of fitting neatly into one musical world, ANGL pulls inspiration from many of them.

Keeping ANGL Alive

Behind the artist name is something deeply personal.

When we asked what he is proud of that people might not know, ANGL shared the connection between his creative identity and his mom.

“I am very glad to keep a part of my mom alive through the name ‘ANGL.’ It motivates me to keep creating in every aspect.”

The name carries something bigger than branding. It gives ANGL another reason to continue creating.

And right now, that creativity is going into a new project.

LOVE ME, BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE

ANGL is currently working on a seven-track album titled LOVE ME, BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE.

“I am actually working on my album called ‘LOVE ME, BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE.’ It’s a 7 track album and I’m super excited to release it!”

While creating the music is one part of building an artistic career, ANGL says developing relationships within the creative world can sometimes be more challenging.

“Sometimes networking can be difficult at times. Everything with networking I prefer to always be genuine and have a connection in some way.”

That emphasis on genuine relationships shows up in the community ANGL has built around himself.

He gives love to members of the San Diego queer community including Kayelle Khaos, Iridescent, Rosalinda, Monica Madness, Marty Mars, and Passion.

In music, he shouts out Apartment9, LEVEL$, Viv, Verti, Tonedeaf, and 2k6, along with his collective VAMPSTARZ: XoThrax, SXREY, Dresdan, Satyrn, Xeudonym, and s0ftskelet0ns.

“There are so many I could continue to list honestly.”

ANGL + Milk Room

ANGL's relationship with Milk Room isn't limited to discovering the brand online.

“It’s super impactful and inspiring to me. It’s a safe place for creatives.”

Milk Room also became part of some of ANGL's own creative firsts.

“It’s also where I was able to do my first modeling experience. I had modeled for the brand No Rivals, and actually had 2 performances here, and always such a great atmosphere and good energy.”

From modeling to performing, ANGL has experienced Milk Room from inside the creative community which makes getting to tell his story now feel especially fitting.

As he prepares LOVE ME, BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE, ANGL continues doing what first drew him toward art as a kid: creating freely, expressing himself, and putting a message into the things he makes.
