BNIKKI: The Future of Music

Who is BNIKKI?

Nicole, better known as BNIKKI, is based in Los Angeles, California. As an actress, music producer, songwriter, CEO, and musician, BNIKKI is a powerhouse. Since the age of 5, she has been exposed to the music industry.

It started when a piano teacher concluded Nicole had surpassed the course level and advised Nicole to begin making her own compositions. BNIKKI also states how she was exposed to multiple genres of music even before this monumental age of 5, only strengthening her instilled passion for music. “The artist that moved me the most out of this preliminary exposure has been Michael Jackson, and he inspires me greatly -- to this day.”

Now, BNIKKI is working on her first and second album. Currently fixating on “the order of each song [from the album], potential music video ideas, [and] photoshoots for covers,”. The most exciting part of Nicole's future within the industry is her continuous creative growth. As stated, “Business is important, yes, but what fuels the necessity to make this into a business is the authenticity of the creativity that is behind it.” In other words, the industry is serious and focused like a business, however, the driver of the business is the creative behind it.

Standing Alone Proudly:

BNIKKI states her independence in the industry is one of her proudest achievements. Her success is through the help of mentors, however, it is also because of personal dedication. Accepting the help and guidance of others was critical for BNIKKI, however, her personal growth and direction were of equal importance. Additionally, she states that her independence allowed her to have a deeper understanding of herself and her goals.

“The mentors in my life have been very hands-off, and very distant (hard to call them mentors at that point, I know), but because of this, it forced me to really come to the conclusion of whether or not I want it badly,” says BNIKKI. Viewers can take inspiration from this by realizing that being “successful” does not mean there is always someone helping you, but that there are people who support and occasionally uplift you. Help and support for an artist is necessary, however, personal drive and strength from the artist is also necessary. “I'm proud of all I've learned and accomplished on my own,” says BNIKKI, and so should everyone who has struggled to establish themselves, because no matter what, there is strength and achievement in personal growth

The BNIKKI Mindset:

BNIKKI understands that challenges and setbacks will always occur for anyone and everyone. However, how one approaches and views this can be detrimental to their success. “Everything is mental no matter how you want to see it -- so long as your mind is …encouraged, your reality will follow.” If one views every obstacle as impossible, their reality and mind will follow the idea that tasks can not be overcome, however, if one views these obstacles as temporary barriers, they will be feasible and one day accomplished.

How one views oneself is also detrimental to their success. As BNIKKI states, “keep going [and] love yourself enough to understand yourself emotionally.” This will give you control of your mentality and allow you to overcome any setbacks or challenges. Taking this time to process your emotions will deepen your emotional intelligence, allowing you to be more in tune with your stress, happiness, and success. With this BNIKKI mindset where one cherishes their emotional state, people can overcome once daunting tasks with far more ease.

Feel, and Inspiration will Follow:

“I've learned that when you look for inspiration actively, it is immediately less effective than when inspiration finds you itself. Inspiration naturally comes from experiences: heartbreak, immense joy, grave danger, relentless anger, pure fascination, etc. This inspiration directly translates into my craft through one of my favorite concepts: synesthesia. It's truthfully a skill, but when you turn an emotion or feeling into a sound, soundscape, or score, and do so accurately, it immediately should be able to put the artist back into the place in which they initially got the inspiration. This also allows the audience to use the music to revert back to their own personal experiences that are similar to the original experience through the power of that sound.”

In other words, do not actively search for inspiration, instead, let inspiration form naturally through experimentation and effort. Allow yourself to feel, explore, and develop whatever methods are needed for you to find innovation. Look within yourself and what you are feeling. Allow yourself to then feel those emotions and utilize them as inspiration for whatever project or task at hand.
